about

Song 2 by Permission To Fly.

I wrote this after going to Joshua Tree in August of 2017. I went with photographers so we went when you could see the Milky Way. But I didn't really give a shit. I just like to climb the rocks.

Lyrics:

And I am not upset but I can tell you that I'm through
with the let downs and the stand ups that I have been through
So I take another one and put it on the wall
because I look up when it gets tough and I feel bound to fall
Can you hear them calling? Oh it sounds enticing
Escapism seems so good until you are actually escaping
But I would not blame you if you took their mended promises
I know it's hard sometimes but I've felt their lies and it's not quite what you think it is so...

So put one foot in front of the other and Be glad you still have those
they may take your body but they can't take your soul
Do what you can each day and let that be so
your spirit is breaking and it's filling with woe
And I said HEY HEY HEY HEY Don't you give up
And I said HEY HEY HEY HEY Never give in
The sun has set but we're far awake Basking in the heat of this desert day
And I said HEY It's all I can say and I say HEY

nothing but another chink in the armor nothing but another knock on the head
I never cared much about what any other people have said
But now it's getting to me oh I am feeling the grief
oh the pain is deep searching for any sort of relief
oh This world this cruel world it's harshly cold and it's awful mean
I take a step forward but I get sent back and it's clear now to see
that that's just the way it goes why so who knows but it's getting old
and now I'm off to begin again and look for my next opening
